Equal Voices invites Christians to join in faith involvement in World Pride 2023 – to be held in Sydney between 17 February to 5 March – the first time World Pride has been held in the southern hemisphere. Check out our pages here to discover shared events already planned with various groups
Some plans in progress
- A shared Christian ecumenical stall at Fair Day (Sunday 19 February)
- LGBTIQ+ Choirs performing in some Sydney church venues
- A keynote PANCAKE PRIDE event at Pitt Street Uniting Church on Tuesday 21 February – including sharing food together, a celebratory ecumenical service, speakers & discussion
- Catholic Mass – hosted by Rainbow Catholics InterAgency in conjunction with Acceptance Sydney (marking its 50th anniversary jubilee) on Friday evening 24 February
- An Ecumenical Mardi Gras Group of marchers from across the Christian communities in the Mardi Gras Parade on the evening of Saturday 25 February
- A possible performance by Pirate Church on the evening of Sunday 26 February (at Pitt Street Uniting Church)
- A possible Pentecostal-led Queer Faith celebration
- A Multi-faith Gathering – to celebrate together and to explore common issues
Pitt St Uniting Church will also be acting as a World Pride Christian Hub – as a long-time LGBTIQA+ flourishing place in the centre of the CBD to help signal faith events and involvements and as a base for a pastoral support network.
Together with online sharing, it is hoped an exhibition making visible queer people of faith will also be a focal point.
